I searched for Project timeline requests and only really found older requests, so I will bring it up again with a different twist.
1. Is there any way to see more than 13.5 days at a time on the project timeline? I would love to look at and show a customer a timeline of the installation project that may be 30-60 days or more.
I also see this as a separate print option than the printing from the project that shows only what you have on the screen with 3 pages of information about service orders and other related documents prior to the current view of the timeline on the last page.
2. It would be very helpful to have a global look at projects that are going on. We can look at portions of a project timeline in one snapshot by printing the project as above. And we can look at a week's worth of service orders (or tasks for the service orders) for all technicians on all jobs in the dispatch board. But i would love to be able to look at a month or two of projects on a single "calendar".
I see this as a simplified Gantt chart with projects listed as colored lines spanning the days they are scheduled for. It would be wonderful to have this look be exclusive to the project view in such a way that we could select the projects to view from a list of active or 'open" projects or "show all" projects for a specific timeline. Each different project would have its own color. All the days that the tasks (or stages) are schedules for would be indicated in that project's color on the chart. It would be even better if the stages or tasks were noted in text within the colored bar on the dates applicable, but maybe this is only indicated if you click on them or zoom to that level of detail. If multiple projects are scheduled during that month we can see them as multiple colored lines spanning those dates so we can better view how we will actually need to assign technicians to different locations or jobs to meet the overlapping project timelines.
I think all the information is currently in Tigerpaw, but it just is not viewable in a way that we can really look at all that we have going on for a month.
This would be greatly beneficial as a tool to show customers the timeline of their project and also as a tool to schedule everything internally when we discuss project implementations and when we can actually lock in an installation date a month in advance.
Tigerpaw is great, and it works well for service, but it seems to be lacking when scheduling projects that span more than a week or two. We currently are stuck with two huge whiteboards in our service manager's office that show 6 weeks of dates that indicate the installations (or projects) that we have going on so that we can map our service orders, tasks, etc. (for projects and service) onto the Tigerpaw dispatch board.
It would be wonderful if Tigerpaw could provide that view for us as all the information is in the software, but just cannot be viewed in the way that we need to see the projects relate to each other over a month or two.
Thanks,
