  • Tigerpaw Disappearing Act

We have users that have reported Tigerpaw will occasionally just vanish from their screens, but only when it is minimized. I have seen this on a few occasions myself but had chalked up to my PC. No messages are displayed at all (e.g. Shutdown Tigerpaw? Your connection has been cleared, etc.) It will re-open and connect to the database just fine.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

I have had the same problem with the sampledb periodically. I too chalked it up to my PC.

I know this issue has been on other threads, but posting on this thread. We upgraded to V14 and now we keep getting the message your connection to the database has been cleared by another user. But no one is actually manually clearing another user via Tools -> Network & Security -> User Connections. We only have administrators with that access and none of them are doing this. Any ideas why this issue has come back to play?

We're experiencing the same thing since moving to V14. Any update on this issue would be appreciated.

I haven't had any issues for the past 4 years. If the user has TP opened though and opens a 2nd session with TP then the 1st session will get that pop-up within a few minutes. So they are in fact knocking their first session off line which makes sense. Hope this helps.

JCR, I believe this is related to the TCP/IP Named Pipes setup within your network. Talk to Tigerpaw Support about this. Forcing either Named Pipes or TCP/IP seems to rectify it.

Thank you for the suggestion. We all use Tigerpaw via Remote Desktop to the Tigerpaw Server. Would this still be a likely cause when using RDP instead of the client?

I'm not an infrastructure guy unfortunately, but a savvy tech should know the answer to this one. For the record we found Named Pipes the best option to use for stability.

Here's a link on setting it up.

By chance are you using TeamViewer on those PC's? We found that to be the cause of TigerPaw crashing with no error message, it just closes. Since uninstalling Teamviewer on those workstations we have no issues.
