  • Tax Rate Increases, How should they be handled?

We are located in Louisiana, so we have parishes here. What do you do when you have tax rate increases? If you change the tax rate in tigerpaw, it changes every instance where the tax rate is used. This could create big problems. For example if a quote was made before the increase it will now reflect the new rate and beyond that other items and processes in tigerpaw will be affected. If we create new rates for the increase then we have rates listed that are no longer in use and we can't delete them or mark them inactive.

    Katherine,

You may want to consider creating a new Tax code/district for the new rate(s). This way, you can keep track of which is which. Otherwise, as you indicated, you can get into all sorts of trouble. Just make sure the agencies and codes are correct so they will port over properly to your accounting package.
