  • Removing inventory items off of a Service order

I am hoping someone can shed some light on a problem we are facing.
Currently our sales team asks that we show all items quoted in one section of our invoice and then show any adjustments below creating the final total at the bottom. We would like it to put those inventory items back in our inventory as well.

    Example

20 Pieces of Item X were ordered but 4 were returned

Top part of Invoice shows 20 pieces, as per quote

Bottom of invoice will show any changes and adjustments such as the 4 items returned.

TigerPaw allows you to do this but instead of adjusting the inventory to show only 16 items sold it adds and shows 24 items sold.

Short of adjusting the invoice in QuickBooks after the fact or doing the invoice and then creating an credit memo does anyone know if there is away to put negative numbers on your invoice and have it put those items back into inventory.

    Any suggestions or help appreciated.

    Thanks

Unfortunately Tigerpaw doesn't allow you to invoice negative quantities. You could create a special item and display 4 x item X @ -$100.00, which would give you the correct summary or amount due

Alternatively you could enter comment lines

    16 x Item X @ $100 = $1600.00
Comment: 4 x Item X Returned to us

    OR

    20 x Item X @ $100.00 = $2,000.00
Comment: 4 x Items X returned to us.
    SpecialItem 4 x Item X @ -$100.00 = -$400.00

Because Special Items aren't constrained by inventory this would work. You would have to make an adjustment for the 4 items within Inventory to ensure the 4 were returned to stock.
