button/checkbox to hide inactive contact

As you know in business staff come an go and we have many clients that have been with us for a very long time.

Our contact list starts to look like this (sorted by Last Name):

In the image above only the highlighted contact are still active.


It would be very helpful if you could add checkbox to hide/show inactive contacts from this list (and set a default option to hide inactive contacts). I've added the below image for how/where this could be positioned.
