Add date of birth to cotact (or at least day and month)

We like building a great rapport with our clients and over the years we have developed a list of birthdays.
We currently have a manual way of notifying our team internally that it's a particular person's birthday however if the date of birth [DOB] or at least day and month of birth was known then this could allow a workflow to trigger an notify our internal team so they can send a personal birthday message to that contact.

I should add that we have had tried this using custom fields within TP however this doesn't allow us to trigger workflows.

I have submitted the request to the stakeholders. I would also suggest creating a yearly recurring task for these contacts' birthdays as well.
