Document Management root directory setup---Not working

Upgraded to v14 today and am unable to add a path.
Called support and it seems it is a known problem and the solution was to map a drive.......

Any idea when this will be fixed? We need the ability to just type the path in and not just browse to the share.
Our document share is sitting on DFS.
