  • Tigerpaw Ver 10.5 and Windows. 8.1

We are a very small company and like the Pursuit part of Tigerpaw (which is all we use). We are using ver 10.5 which, I know is old, but it works well for us. It is working on Windows 7 fine, but we are upgrading to Windows 8.1 and while the initial program runs, we cannot connect to an SQL server. We have loaded the MS Desktop Engine ver 8 and it said that it could not create an 'instance'. Any guidance on this issue would be appreciated.

In addition to the Tigerpaw client, you probably have to install the SQL backward compatibility software. Have you done that?

The nice folks over at Tech Support were helpful in getting TP ver 10.5 to run on Win 8.1. The magic key was SQL 2005 Express (free from MS). Once that was loaded and the SQL Server was setup (which was all but automatic). Running the TP Database Utility worked great and now up and running. Thanks.
