  • d-Tools SIX and Tigerpaw

    Hi Guys,

I am using d-Tools and Tigerpaw in conjunction. I currently export a job via the the custom report and import it into a quote with the "d-Tools link" As far as I can tell there is no difference between the d-tools import and a generic import but heyho. I was mainly wondering if there is a more in depth link available between the two? There is a "TSI Dtools Integration Manager" file in the install location of Tigerpaw but it isn't obvious what it does or how to operate it once you have run it.

Does anyone else use the two together and if so what process do you follow? We've got d-Tools pretty sussed but Tigerpaw is new territory so we're still finding our feet.

    Thanks a lot.

The D-Tools Integration Manager is from the original D-Tools integration which only works with SI-5. The current link for SI-6 is no where near as comprehensive as the previous link as you've discovered. D-Tools really changed the table structure in SI-6 and to change the existing link would have required a total re-write. It was good of D-Tools to come out with their link, but you're right. The report is modified to output to the generic import format. We have almost completed our D-Tools to Tigerpaw inventory sync for SI-6 and the customer update sync. We have them for SI-5 but not 6 at this stage.

We're in the opposite shoes as you nomski. We are new to D-Tools not TP. I am disappointed to hear the integration is not as good.

        Hi Chambrick,

Unfortunately it is weak in the extreme. I don't know much about SQL databases etc. but surely it is just a case of field assignments? What would be great is that when you add a customer (company) or a client (contact) in d-Tools or Tigerpaw they appear in the other package and when you create a d-Tools project it creates a populated quote in Tigerpaw for that Account. To be honest just the client/customer link would be great as the job import isn't too big a task. Not sure if this is possible or not but in my head it's just a case of one database filling in the appropriate fields in another. Wonder if an SQL specialist could figure it out? Surely if there is enough of us that would benefit from the link we could employ someone to do it and all share the cost?

I'm a former programmer with SQL experience.

I'll contact TP and see who wrote the other one and see if they can help facilitate me writing a new one or updating the existing one.

This is something I am extremely interested as well.
D-Tools integration was one of the primary selling points for us buying Tigerpaw, when in reality there is hardly any integration between the two. Very disappointed in that. When we were told it integrates with D-Tools seamlessly we took their word for it. It was never mentioned that System Integrator 5 has seamless integration, but SIX does not.

Hopefully an official fix or some sort of workaround will be released.

I was told by my sales rep that Cindi Shannon in Channel Development is who to discuss the D-Tools integration with.

I've emailed her twice (the first time she was on vacation), to hear no response.

Maybe with a few others trying to discuss we can get some movement on this.

Again, being a former programmer with SQL experience I'm very willing to put in some free time to help get this done.

I can't provide any technical assistance, but if you need help testing or with sample reports/dbs etc let me know.
I will shoot Cindi an email as well, I am assuming it is cshannon@tigerpawsoftware.com?

Woops. Forgot to leave the email:

                  You are correct: cshannon@tigerpawsoftware.com

I'll send her an email as well. One of the items that was "sold" to me was also the d-tools integration which is basically non existent. I was also told that there was a sync between calendars on Outlook and Tigerpaw which apparently is no longer supported! Thanks a lot. Instead I need to spend $2k on the exchange integrator. Having our pants down...

OUCH! $2K ? I don't remember it being NEAR that expensive.

I don't know about your sales guy but I do know that I've been pretty happy with TP and their responsiveness to their customers. I'd definitely have a conversation with SOMEONE.

I agree that the D-tools integration is very poor. I have a case with Tigerpaw right now because the export from D-tools six excel file doesn't import correctly in to Tigerpaw. This is a Tigerpaw issue as the excel file is correct. What happens is none of the check marks on the import work properly. When I check import selling costs and prices it completely ignores the checkmarks and pulls the cost and price from the TP database and not the excel file. There has been no response to my case after 4 weeks and I use D-tools for 99% of my proposals. Very inconvenient and very frustrating.
I only post this so the rest of the D-tools users out there look very carefully at the import the next time you do it. It may not be correct. I know we missed it the first 10 times we did the import because we got lucky. Our TP database matched our D-tools database costs and prices so we didn't notice. The last import we did had very different information in each database so we noticed immediately. BE WARNED!

All I have been told from Tigerpaw is that they have heard our request.

I was extremely disappointed when reading the 14R1 beta release notes that no improvements have been made to SIX integration.

I wish I could say I was surprised, but this is business as usual for Tigerpaw.

I've tried emailing the Cindi girl but still no response. If Chambrick could get hold of them and just write something we might all be in the clear and surely it will save them a job! I'll send another email today with a link to this thread and see if they can arrange anything at all. Payton and Munee I think we are going to be disappointed.
