  • RMA - Warranty Replacement when RMA item is to return to our inventory

    Our practice is that we warranty custom assemblies, and when a part goes out we replace the part so the customer can remain up and running, bill them for it and also RMA the part.
    When the part comes back, because the RMA was done out of the customer's assets, it is returned to the customer assets ..........however this is the part that is already replaced, so we actually want this part to come back to our inventory.

    Please don't ask me about Exchanges, in hard drives alone the difference in cost over 6-8 months can be huge so we'd take a hit every time we replaced a hard drive and in IT most items go down in price over time.

    We'd like to keep the chain of events (audit trail) intact, showing from Purchase Order to inventory to sale to RMA to transfer into our stock to sell.

    is possible on some items, but we find most items received via RMA this icon is grey'd out and unable to use.

    Any ideas or suggestions for us?
